Mural Completion
The Angola Mural Projects 2026 © Bethany K. Hoskin (Vanderputten)
On the Thursday before we left Angola (August 27, 2026) Michael and I set up all eight panels along the wall in the Livingstone School at the Mitcha Missionary Compound in Lubango, Angola. The murals were complete! A total of about 250 square feet were painted by Michael and myself within about 50 hours (so about 5 hours per mural painting) during August 2026. This is in addition to probably 5-7 hours per each preparatory thumbnail, drawing and colour comp per mural I did before the trip. The following is a list of the murals we painted and the locations they will be installed in Lubango:
“The Natural Wonders of Angola”, CFB Livingstone School at Mitcha (two vertical panels)
“Children of God”, CEML Hospital, new Children’s wing and Nursery in the Hospital Wards (five horizontal mural panels illustrating the Bible characters: Jesus, Moses, Samuel, Tabitha, and Josiah)
“The Pool of Bethesda” Triptych, CEML Hospital, new Auditorium (one panel cut in three)
The murals are now in storage, the school one will be installed soon (hopefully before school begins in October) and we hear the hospital murals will be installed in the new buildings upon the space’s completion (in 2027 or early 2028). I hope to share more photos and some videos of the completed mural paintings in days and weeks to come… Watch this blog but also my art Website www.bethanyillustrates.com for more information.
