…we’re ready to go!

In addition to all that goes into an overseas trip like this we’ve been preparing for the duties we will have in the field. Michael has been busy preparing paperwork that should assist in our ESL teaching. We have also created a spreadsheet that we hope will assist in our inventory task for the CEML Hospital.

I have also been busy with getting the colour comps ready for the CEML Hospital expansion. The first set of murals feature the “Children of God” - narrative depictions of Bible stories. The panels feature child king Josiah and temple worship restoration, Tabitha (Dorcas) being resurrected by the Apostle Peter, the boy Samuel being called in the temple, baby Moses in the Nile River, and also baby Jesus and his parents fleeing to Egypt under early oppression. Each Bible character is featured on their own panel. Two will decorate the new Nursery and three, the new older children’s room.

The other mural we hope to paint on panels and leave until the building is completed is for a chapel at the CEML Hospital. This will be a triptych featuring “The Pool of Bethesda” with the pool and the surrounding sick people on one panel, Jesus healing someone on another panel, and a healing pathway on a third.

One of the events we are excited to be in Angola for is a ceremony for the ‘passing of the torch’ of the CEML Hospital from Michael’s Uncle, Dr. Steve Foster, to the Clinical Director designate Dr. Sam Fabiano. It should be an historic occasion we’re happy to be present to help document, as Steve has been the director of the hospital since its inception in 2006.
